Scholarships

W.B. Johnston Grain encourages the education of agriculture through scholarships.  That is why we offer several opportunities for students interested in a career path in Agriculture.  Johnston's believes in the future generation's interest in agricultural based careers and would like to help them achieve their goals.

Willis B. Johnston Memorial Scholarship

Agricultural Economics - $1500

  • This scholarship is in memory of Dale H. Johnston and Willis B. Johnston and is awarded to a junior or senior agricultural economics/agribusiness major who is interested in a career in independent agribusiness or production agriculture. Preference is given to a student in agribusiness, agricultural economics, marketing, or accounting related options.

Deadline: January 15

Joe Meibergen Memorial Scholarship

Animal Science

  • This scholarship is awarded to animal science students of any class standing. Award is based on academic achievement, activities and demonstrated leadership.

Deadline: Freshman-February 1. Continuing/Transfer-January 15

W.B. Johnston Grain Company Scholarship

Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering - $1500

  • This scholarship is for an incoming freshman or transfer student majoring in biosystems engineering. Selection is based on leadership ability, involvement in extracurricular activities, academics and financial need. Awarding of the scholarship depends on continued funding.

Deadline: February 1

Dale H. Johnston Memorial Scholarship

Plant and Soil Sciences Department - $1000

  • This scholarship is available to a junior or senior in plant and soil sciences with a special interest in seed production, processing or research.

Deadline: January 15

Beth Lilly Memorial Scholarship

Ag Communications - $1000

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time sophomore, junior or senior agricultural communications student. Applicants should have demonstrated leadership and academic achievement (minimum 2.5 GPA) and show promise in making contributions to news writing and/or agricultural publications.

Deadline: Continuing/Transfer – January 15.

Elizabeth Meibergen Scholarship

$1500

  • This scholarship is sponsered by the Meibergen family and is awarded to a student based on need and demonstrated work ethic and the desire to obtain a college degree.
