Johnston’s of Chalmette operates a terminal located on mile 89.2 on the Mississippi River in Chalmette, Louisiana. This facility was designed and built with a primary focus on capabilities to meet stringent customer specifications. Continuous improvement and a dedicated maintenance program have allowed the facility to easily handle the ever-increasing demand for tonnage throughput.  Johnston’s of Chalmette exclusively handles green and calcined petroleum coke for both domestic and overseas shipment.

Handling Equipment

• Constant sampling and analysis of particle size during ship and barge loading
• A versatile conveyor system that incorporates blending of inventory, railcars, and barges, while loading a ship or a barge, at a rate of 450 tons per hour
• Ship loading dock equipped with three state of the art, dust free, ship-loading spouts
• Stationary floating dock used for unloading green coke barges and loading calcine coke barges
• 3 yard unloading excavator 60 ton crawler crane 700 tons per hour crusher

Storage Capabilities

• Two separate covered storage facilities with a combined total capacity of 25,000 tons of green coke
• Five storage tanks with a combined capacity of 45,000 tons of calcined coke
